Slide slide slippity-slide,
With switches in the block on a '65
Now I'm going to have to listen to that song... good ol' Coolio. Yeah.
Anyway, the fantastic voyage of my Pearl Hall Choir went exceedingly well. I was hoping that we would be on TV... but, alas... we were only live and on the radio. :) Still, we had a great time. The kids were fantastic and stayed IN KEY!!! Maybe you don't understand what I mean... 74 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders singing A CAPELLA live in front of 36,815 fans... and they stayed in tune and in key!!! This is outstanding!
In other news... I feel a good post coming soon. I've been thinking about Faith lately, and how mine has dramatically changed over the last couple years. It ought to be a good provoking post when I sit down to write it.
For tonight though, I'm out.

How on earth could anyone get that many kids to sing in tune? I have to be in this musical, and I'm surrounded by proably twenty other kids...and we sound awful. Most of them are way younger, and their shrill voices throw mine off key (not that I can sing anyway)
Well, we put in a heck of a lot of work, threaten to kick them out if they don't get the notes right, AND we offer them the best experience of their life. These kids have never had the chance to go leave their neighborhood, much less be able to afford to go to a baseball game. We offer them a free game, dinner, and snack with the added bonus of the first time they ever go to a baseball park, we get to take them right behind second base and sing for 40,000 people. Its wicked cool.
That sounds amazing...I don't think I've ever heard kids sing together and sound good...I grew up on those hedious kid's praise CD's...
Yeesh! Those are horrible... especially the Cedarmont Kids. I worked at a Christian bookstore for a couple years in college. Then I found my senses and went secular. Bookstores, I mean.
It wasn't until much much later (2005) that I completely went secular... in the way of life.
I need to post about that sometime.
Of course, secular music has some pretty bad kid's stuff too. Every time I see a kid's bop commercial, I'm like, "Good Gravy"...who wants to listen to a bunch of ten-year-olds sing a Justin Timberlake song that they shouldn't be listening to in the first place? Good gravy, it's awful!
Christian movies are pretty bad too. I'm fourteen...and I've only seen 2 Christain movies worth remembering...and even those pale in comparison to most secular movies. Not much can stand up to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings.
It's the same way with books. Aside from CS Lewis and Tolkien, there aren't many good Christian (fitcion) writers.
As Christain music goes...they do have some awesome bands. *cough*Jarsofclay*cough*....now if you excuse me...I need to listen to flood eighty millions times...
